Plumtree Nursery Amongst ‘Most Recommended’ in the Region

Plumtree Nursery Amongst ‘Most Recommended’ in the Region

Delight at Children 1st Day Nurseries as the company and five of its nurseries named in ‘Top 20 Most Recommended’ in the region by parents.

There was cause for a double celebration at Children 1st Day Nurseries on receiving the news that five of its nurseries ranked amongst the ‘Top 20’ nursery providers in the East Midlands and that the company as a whole has been recognised as one of the ‘Top 20’ large nursery groups in the UK.

The company’s nursery at Plumtree which is judged to be ‘Outstanding in All Areas’ by Ofsted, achieved a superb Top 20 placing, along with four of its sister nurseries:

  • Children 1st @ Newark Town (Newark)
  • Children 1st @ Wragby Road (Lincoln)
  • Children 1st @ Main Street (Long Eaton)
  • Children 1st @ St Peter & St Paul (Chesterfield)

This prestigious commendation is a considerable achievement for Children 1st @ Plumtree and is highly valued as it is based on the views of parents and carers of children who attend the nursery.

Louise Bucknall, manager of Children 1st @ Plumtree was thrilled to receive the news of this achievement. Louise comments:

“In 2017 Ofsted rated the quality and standards of provision at the nursery as outstanding and we were all thrilled, but this Top 20 award, based on the opinions of the parents whose children attend Plumtree, is very dear to our hearts because it comes from the people who are so closely associated with the nursery. Thank-you to everyone who took the time to submit the wonderful reviews. It really means a lot to the staff.”

The Top 20 Nursery Awards highlights the most recommended day nurseries and nursery groups in 12 regions of the UK and is compiled by leading peer review site Daynurseries.co.uk using the review scores given by parents and guardians. With over 12,500 day nurseries and nursery schools in the UK, the nurseries are rated on their overall standard, facilities and outside space, learning resources, equipment, ICT, care, activities, staff, food and nutrition, management, cleanliness and safeguarding as well as value for money.

In addition to these five awards for individual nurseries, Children 1st Day Nurseries, which owns 23 nurseries across the Midlands and South Yorkshire has been named as one of the most recommended large nursery groups in the East Midlands. From its humble beginnings as a single site nursery in 1988, the company now employs over 600 people, runs its own acclaimed training academy and supports over 3000 families.

Margaret Mason OBE, company founder and chief executive, described the fact that 25% of the Top 20 rankings had been achieved by Children 1st nurseries as “a wonderful reflection of the high standards across all our nurseries and the valued and close relationships we have with our families.”

Margaret adds:

“Children 1st Day Nurseries is proud of our reputation as the largest family owned day nursery group in the U.K. We have always been a family run business and the family ethos permeates all levels of the company. The emphasis on family values continues to drive the company forward and underlies our commitment to providing excellence in all that we do. It’s therefore significant for us to have achieved this recognition based on the views of the families we serve. A huge thank-you to everyone who has helped to achieve these awards.”

Amanda Hopkins, chair of daynurseries.co.uk, said:

“We would like to congratulate Children 1st Day Nurseries at Plumtree on being a top nursery in the East Midlands, as rated by parents! It is such an achievement to be chosen as one of the best nurseries by the families and carers of the children that attend the setting.”

A final word goes to Kerry Inglis, one of the Plumtree parents whose review is typical of those on Daynurseries.

“My daughter has been at this nursery since she was 4 months old. She is now coming up to her 6th birthday and still regularly attends breakfast club and after-school sessions at Children 1st.

I can honestly say that during the 5 years that she has spent at this nursery, I do not have one criticism or negative comment to make.

The environment both indoors and outdoors is incredible and fantastically resourced. The staff go above and beyond and I cannot thank them enough for contributing so positively to my child's learning, development and happiness!”
