Leicestershire psychology clinic expands its services across the UK

A forward thinking business step has paid off for a private clinic offering psychological health services, thanks to advice from a Kibworth-based company.

The Purple House Clinic is a Clinical Psychology practice, which has its main premises in Loughborough, Leicestershire.

Since business development firm Incrementa was employed to help the company grow, it has developed satellite clinics in Lincoln and Leicester and more recently, launched a franchise network.

Its first franchise clinic opened in January in Glasgow and another two are scheduled to open in June 2018.

Purple House’s Clinical Director Dr Katie Morris said: “Since we started in 2013, we’ve grown significantly, but we wanted to find a way to take our next step in expanding our services to more geographical locations.

“The demand for our services is high and we are meeting a growing need for accessible, client-led assessments and treatments delivered by expert-level clinicians. We wanted to harness the success that we’ve had with our existing model and replicate that elsewhere in the UK.

“We have extremely strong values and ethics around our service provision and our clients’ needs are always at the heart of what we do. We’re also a privately run company and we needed sound business advice to help us develop a model of expansion that was financially viable on a large scale.

“Incrementa joined us at a time when we had started to have a very high level of demand for our services. There were lots of different possibilities for growth and we were unsure in which direction to go. With Incrementa’s help, we have been able to focus our efforts on expanding our services locally within our own practice whilst also growing the Purple House network nationally.”

Founded in 2015, Incrementa specialises in supporting small businesses, helping them to develop and grow. For the Purple House challenge, the company offered its Critical Friend service. The idea is the client receives help from a trusted person, whose role is to ask questions, provide data for further examination and provide an honest critique of the company’s work.

Along the way, Incrementa helped set up the franchise model for Purple House which has provided the ideal model for Purple House’s expansion in Scotland and in the East Midlands.

Stuart Hartley, Managing Director of Incrementa, said:

“Setting up a business is relatively straight forward, but growing it can be challenging, which is why all our consultants have extensive experience in business development, working closely with our clients helping them to unlock the company’s true potential.

“The challenge we had with Purple House is it had been successful for several years, however the growth needed to be managed carefully to ensure it remained financially healthy. The two Directors have professional backgrounds unrelated to business and they needed our support in making key business decisions such as when to employ more staff and when to lease premises. We have also helped with marketing guidance and financial modelling.

“It was important that we found a way to develop the business model, whilse ensuring that clients continued to receive a personalised and high quality service.  The services they provide are extremely important and a lot of people benefit profoundly from their services, which is why we needed to get this right.”

The Purple House Clinic employ a team of highly qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologists who provide a range of assessment and therapy services, including adult mental health, child and adolescent mental health, and child behaviour services.
