KH HAIR AWARDS MARK 10YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH CHILDLINE

Group's annual award ceremony celebrates decade milestone.

The biggest night of the year for East Midlands salon group, KH Hair, was kicked off by marking a ten-year partnership with Childline during which the Group has raised almost £60,000.

The 21 salons have been holding fund-raising events for the last decade ranging from pamper evenings to head shaves and taking part in charity events from static cycling to tough mud challenges.

Group managing directors, Darren Messias and Tim Fee, thanked the 300-strong audience for being actively involved in the fund-raising.

"Everyone has shown a real commitment to raising money for this very worthy cause." said Darren. "We've had some fantastic ideas from the teams who have been really enthusiastic in getting involved.  I'd also like to thank our wonderful clients for their support and generosity."

Childline is a free 24-hour counselling service for children and young people up to their 19th birthday in the United Kingdom provided by the NSPCC. The charity deals with any issue which causes distress or concern, common issues dealt with include child abuse, bullying, mental illness, parental separation or divorce, pregnancy and substance misuse.

Claire Campbell, community fundraising manager for Childline, said:

“KH Hair’s support over the past ten years has been life-changing for so many children.  The staff and clients have really embraced fundraising and the energy and enthusiasm they bring to the partnership makes a real difference.

"Childline is a lifeline to young people when they are at their most vulnerable and KH Hair understands the unique role it plays in providing a safe space for children to communicate.”

During the awards evening, the 300-strong audience was treated to a show stopping catwalk by the KH Hair Creative Team, before the 22 accolades were handed out to the Group's top performers.

The most coveted award of the night came as Darren and Tim announced the Tutbury salon was the 2018 Salon Of The Year. Soon to celebrate 10 years in business, mother and daughter Jane Lloyd and Beckie Maznenko, who run the salon, took to the stage with their team to collect the award.

"This is the third time we've been named Salon of the Year and we're absolutely thrilled." said Beckie.  Since we opened, we have overcome many obstacles and challenges and transformed the business into a very successful salon.  We'd like to say a big thank you to all our wonderful team who have helped to make this possible."

The Tutbury team was also announced the winner of the Salon Turnover Improvement Award for the 2nd year running.

There were celebrations too for the Nottingham salon team which received the Salon Highest Turnover Award, Salon Highest Retail Award, the Marketing Award (sponsored by Toast PR) and one of two Salon Service Awards announced on the night.

The West Bridgford team was named winner of the closely-fought Image of the Year Award while its stylist, Steve McEntee scooped the Individual Retail Award for the second year running.

A record number of KH Hair's apprentices were also honoured as 1st Yr students, Libity Prince and Chloe Mead; 2nd Yr students,  Simone Greenfield and Emily Dyer; and 3rd Yr student, Arif Arikan, were all recognised for their achievements.

Darren added:

“This really is the most anticipated night of the year and it's fantastic to have this opportunity to celebrate our salon teams' achievements. There are always some really tough decisions to be made when judging and this year has been no exception.  Our congratulations go to all the winners and runners up who work so hard all year round and thoroughly deserve this recognition."

The event took place on 28 April at the Roundhouse in Derby city centre, hosting KH Hair’s 300+ staff with VIP guests from Wella and Childline.
