Pedalling for Peyton: Total Motion makes Birmingham Children’s Hospital its charity of year

Vehicle management company Total Motion has made Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity its charity of the year in recognition of the tremendous care it gives to a poorly little girl who is the daughter of an employee.

Two- year-old-Peyton Rowley was born with a deletion to chromosome 17q12 – a condition so rare that there is no medical name for it. Peyton is the only known person with this deletion on a data base held by all countries with an advanced genetics department.

She is currently undergoing treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and will need ongoing medical care for the rest of her life.

As a thank you to the hospital, Peyton’s dad, Jamie, logistics manager at Leicester-based Total Motion, and other colleagues, are taking part in a 118-mile cycle ride on June 16.

They are aiming to raise £5,000 by cycling from Total Motion’s head office on Meridian Business Park to Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast.

Jamie said: “Peyton’s condition affects her in many ways but she is a very brave little girl.

“The care and attention she receives from Birmingham Children’s Hospital every time she visits for treatment has made the experience that little bit easier, not just for Peyton but for the whole family.

“Total Motion’s charity cycle ride will help us give something back to the hospital and we’re very grateful to everyone who is helping us raise money.”

Helen Rawnsley, Corporate Partnerships Associate at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said:

“We are so grateful for Total Motion’s support for Peyton and her family and would like to thank all the staff and everyone involved in this amazing challenge. We rely on the generosity and dedication of our corporate fundraisers, so events like this will help us continue to make a difference to our sick children and families like the Rowley’s.”

Other fundraising initiatives will also be taking place throughout the year as part of Total Motion’s support of its chosen charity.

Total Motion is the UKs largest family-run and privately-owned fleet management and leasing provider, offering complete bespoke solutions to businesses and organisations throughout Britain and Europe with fleets of 5 up to 60,000.
