Repton juniors get clued up on health and safety

Pupils at Derbyshire-based Repton Primary School took part in an exciting health and safety talk recently with Miller Homes Midlands.

The interactive talk, held by Miller Homes’ health, safety and environmental manager, Danny Hunt, educated the year one and year two pupils on the potential hazards of construction sites.

As part of the talk, Danny provided the pupils with special reflective snapbands to ensure they are easily visible when out and about in the community.

Danny Hunt, said:

“Safety is our highest priority, both on a construction site and for the communities in which our residents live. We aim to make sure children living close to our Priory Grange development understand the most basic health and safety rules.

“We had a great response from the children at Repton, they all seemed really excited to get involved and loved the snapbands we provided. Developing strong links within the local community is imperative to Miller Homes and we’re really happy to help where we can.”

Head teacher of the school, Steve Tague, said:

“We’re so pleased Miller Homes delivered this talk to our pupils. With the Easter holidays on the horizon, lots of school children will be playing out with friends and it’s important for them to understand how to keep themselves safe in these environments.

“Though the talk was educational, Danny brought a real element of fun to the discussion with his personal approach. The children loved the snapbands. They were all showing them off to their friends and seemed so excited to take them home.”

Repton School is located close to many Miller Homes developments, including Highfields in Littleover and Langley Country Park in Derby. For more information on the Highfields development or surrounding region, visit or call 03300 374 761.
