Call Out For Local Businesses to Take A Stand for Charity

A charity which supports families in times of hardship is calling on local shops and businesses to sell their wares at a one-off pop-up shop in Farnsfield.

The event, at St Michael’s Primary School, will raise money for Operation Orphan’s Forget-Me-Notts project, which helps families across the East Midlands by providing items such as Baby Boxes and gifts for children at Christmas.

Organiser Rebecca Hale, who works for event sponsor Russell Scanlan, thinks it will be an exciting opportunity to bring together local traders for a good cause. She said:

“The Forget-Me-Notts project provides a vital service for local children and it’s important to support a charity that makes a significant difference to our community.

“The pop-up shop will give vendors a great chance to promote their products, meet lots of local people and raise money for a fantastic charity. Whether you’re a food business, jewellery designer or sell your own crafts, I’d love to hear from you. Ideally, we’d like 20 businesses to take part, so please get in touch if you’re interested.”

Jess Meyers from the Forget-Me-Notts project said money raised at the pop-up shop will help to make a huge difference to the lives of children across the East Midlands. She said:

“Operation Orphan works with disadvantaged children across the world and Forget-Me-Notts is our first UK project. We provide chocolates at Christmas and Easter for children and for many this is the only gift they receive. We also provide Baby Boxes for parents in Nottingham in times of hardship. It would be brilliant if lots of local businesses buy a stand to help to raise money for our work in the region.”

The event is being sponsored by Russell Scanlan, the largest independent insurance broker in Nottingham, which has chosen the ‘Forget-Me-Notts’ project as its Charity of the Year.

The pop-up shop will be held at St Michael’s Primary School in Farnsfield from 10am to 1pm on Sunday 3 June. Stand hire costs £20 and goes to the “Forget-Me-Notts” Project.
