Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

A couple from Leicester have been preparing for their future together by taking a step on the property ladder and getting engaged on the same day.

Chris James (29) and Lucy Thorpe (25) recently moved into a new four bedroom home at the David Wilson Homes Forest Chase development on Forest House Lane and couldn’t wait to start their new life together.

The couple previously lived in a rented property in nearby Ibstock but decided now was the time to buy their first home together as a couple.

They were looking to get on the property ladder but also wanted to future proof their selves and ensure they had enough room for to start a family.

Much to Lucy’s surprise and delight, on the day of moving in she was met by a trail of rose petals leading to their new kitchen, where there was an engagement ring waiting for her.

Chris, who works at David Wilson Homes East Midlands as an Engineer, said:

“We chose a new build property because we were able to move straight in and no DIY needed doing.

“The NHBC 10 year warranty also reassured us of the quality of the homes at the development and gave us peace of mind we were in good hands.

“We fell in love with the development because it feels tucked away and private which is great but is also close to excellent transport links meaning we both commute to work easily.”

Chris and Lucy used the Government backed Help to Buy scheme to purchase their dream home, which allowed them to buy with a low deposit. Help to Buy means homebuyers can purchase a new home with just a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage, the rest being made up by an equity loan of 20%.

Chris added:

“After looking at various show homes is the area, not just David Wilson Homes, it was evident that there was a David Wilson difference.

“The fact that numerous site managers within David Wilson Homes have continually won NHBC awards demonstrates the high standard of build.

“The customer service is fantastic, it was the little things that I wasn’t aware they did for customers such as welcome hampers and even provide you lunch on the day you move in. Everyone gets the VIP treatment and experience when buying a David Wilson house.”

Henry Patecki, Senior Site Manager at Forest Chase, was recently awarded the NHBC Supreme Award for the Large Development category.

The couple purchased an Ashtree style home, which has a large kitchen and living area with a separate dining room perfect for when they host dinner parties. The large size of the homes means they won’t have to move when their children are older as there’s plenty of room. Chris is also enjoying using one of the spare rooms as his games room currently.

Jason Hearn, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said

“We’re delighted to hear about Chris and Lucy’s recent engagement at our Forest Chase development and we hope they have a wonderful wedding and a very happy future together in their new home.”
