Three Focus clients heading for the 2018 Museum and Heritage Awards finals

Three museums, which have recently undergone major redevelopment with support from Focus Consultants, have been shortlisted for awards.

The National Army Museum, the Brooklands Museum and Aerospace Bristol are all finalists in this year’s prestigious 2018 Museum and Heritage Awards.

The National Army Museum, shortlisted in the best permanent exhibition category, re-opened in 2017 following a £23.75m refurbishment, including £11.5m from The National Lottery. Focus Consultants were project managers, quantity surveyors and CDM co-ordinators during the three-year project, which dramatically transformed the building maximising access and engagement with the Collection and providing a 21st century visitor experience.

The team at Focus project managed the refurbishment of Brooklands Museum in Surrey, also shortlisted in the permanent exhibition category, and were instrumental in securing £5.5m from The National Lottery for the Brooklands Aircraft Factory and Race Trace Revival Project.

Focus were also project managers and cost consultants for Aerospace Bristol, shortlisted for best marketing campaign, as it created a new home in 2017 for its star attraction – the last Concorde to be built and flown.

The awards, to recognise projects of excellence and innovation across the UK and overseas, will be presented in the Historic Staterooms of 8 Northumberland in the heart of London on Wednesday May 16, 2018.

Partner at Focus, Steven Fletcher, said:

“It’s so rewarding when we see museums and heritage attractions that our teams have worked with being recognised for excellence.

“It is important to us that we work with our clients to create attractions that are successful in the long term and reaching the finals of these awards is a sure sign that they are continuing to flourish.

“They all do fabulous work and we will be keeping our fingers crossed for them on the day of the finals.”
