Lincoln Hotel Wins Lincolnshire Hotel of the Year Award

Lincoln Hotel Wins Lincolnshire Hotel of the Year Award

It’s time for more celebrations at Washingborough Hall as staff picked up Hotel of the Year at the Lincolnshire Tourism Awards in Lincoln on Tuesday night.

The annual awards ceremony hosted by Lincolnshire Media at the Double Tree Hilton in Lincoln celebrates the best venues, retailers and attractions across the county.

With over 100 nominations across ten separate categories, the judging panel shortlists three nominations per category. The public are then asked to vote for a winner in each category from the shortlisted candidates.

The luxury hotel and wedding venue, located just outside of Lincoln in the village of Washingborough, was shortlisted for the award along with the White Hart Hotel in Lincoln and the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa.

Last night’s win for Washingborough Hall follows the news that the hotel received a national commendation in the UK Heritage Awards last week.

The commendation and award win are just the latest plaudits the hotel has earned. Last November Washingborough Hall won the Best Loved Hotel Award and was named Wedding Venue of the Year, both in the East of England category.

Owner Edward Herring said:

“This was a really tough category as we were up against two other very worthy winners. Lucy and I were especially pleased when we found out we’d won as the award was voted for by the public so thank you to everyone who took part.

“We couldn’t have achieved the success we have without the hard work of our amazing team and the support of our customers, partners and suppliers.”

Washingborough Hall is steeped in history and has a close connection to the RAF. The hotel accommodated airmen stationed in Lincolnshire during World War II.

Washingborough Hall was built more than 250 years ago. The house itself is a Grade II listed, Georgian Manor House and is set in three acres of gardens.
