Lincoln construction firm commits to training the next generation

Leading construction and consultancy firm LGG Projects has committed to training the next generation by welcoming an annual intake of apprentices.

The firm has announced that it will be appointing a minimum of two apprentices a year across a variety of disciplines.

LGG Projects provides integrated services within the property and construction sector from high-end domestic alterations, renovations, commercial developments to self-build projects and fit-outs.

The firm’s new apprenticeship initiative has begun with the appointment of Simon Chaldecott from Grantham, who joins the firm as a business administration apprentice.

In his new position, Simon will be responsible for performing administrative tasks and providing marketing support for the firm at its office on Tentercroft Street.

Paul Jakuc, director of LGG Projects, said:

“We understand how important it is to inspire and support the next generation as there continues to be a skills shortage in the industry. We hope that we can provide valuable knowledge and experience to help young people thrive within the sector.

“We have also promised all Lincoln-based apprentices previously working at Carillion, who are under the threat of losing their position, the guarantee that they will be able to interview with us so that they have the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship in the industry.

“We are proud to have launched this new apprenticeship scheme and look forward to working with Simon, our first apprentice. I’d like to wish him the best of luck in his new role.”

Simon, who has an online digital marketing advanced diploma from John Academy in London, will be working with LGG Projects as an apprentice over the next 12 months.

Simon, 18, said:

“I’m very pleased to be joining LGG Projects and it’s fantastic that I’m the first apprentice on its newly announced apprentice scheme. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for me as a school leaver to gain valuable knowledge of the construction industry and to put my marketing diploma to use.

“The team have already been extremely supportive and are dedicating their time and energy to enhancing my skill set. I’m excited to see where this opportunity takes me.”

LGG Projects has worked on a number of significant projects in the region, including the city’s premier mixed-use development; One The Brayford, and a yoga and wellness centre in the Allenby Business Village. The firm has also been chosen to work on The Parklands; a new residential development in the village of Sudbrooke.
