Three New Additions to Russell Scanlan’s Growing Team

Nottingham’s largest independent and chartered insurance brokers, Russell Scanlan, has kicked off 2018 by recruiting three new additions to its growing team.

The firm of 35, located on Wellington Circus in the city centre, has appointed Louise Bamford and Sonia Butler as Commercial Account Handlers and Olivia Levers as SME Account Handler. The three new starters join the firm with nearly 50 years’ experience in the industry between them.

Louise joins the business with a broad skill set across personal, commercial, underwriting, broking and financial insurance, having started her career in Manchester in 1988.

She said: “It was the perfect time for me to make a career move and I’d heard so many excellent reviews of Russell Scanlan and how they do business. Their reputation is second to none and the senior team really values each and every employee.

“I’ve settled in really quickly and have made really good and strong relationships with my clients already, particularly John Pye & Sons. What’s great at Russell Scanlan is that no matter what stage you’re at in your career, there’s still the opportunity to learn and develop here, which I love.”

Sonia, who started her career in personal lines insurance in Rugby, moved to Nottingham in 2004 where she specialised in commercial insurance risks for the cleaning and security industries. She then went on to work for The Wilson Organisation, Aviva and Towergate Insurance in Nottingham.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have been offered the position in the commercial team at Russell Scanlan – the firm has a very strong and enviable reputation throughout the East Midlands and further afield and having worked at a variety of different organisations throughout my career I was ready for a new challenge at an ambitious business.

“I’ve gained experience across a broad spectrum of specialisms, including underwriting, but I’ve always thrived on the client face-to-face contact and interaction that comes with broking. Russell Scanlan has an impeccable reputation in Nottingham for being a professional independent broker which looks after its staff and its clients and encourages excellent service so I knew when the opportunity came up that this was the firm I wanted to move to.”

Olivia Levers, from Long Eaton, takes on the role of SME Account Handler at the firm. Olivia left school at 16 to do an apprenticeship in personal lines and administration insurance, achieving her Cert CII by the time she was 18. Prior to her new position at Russell Scanlan she worked in the commercial team at JRT for four and a half years.

She said: “I’d heard excellent things about Russell Scanlan since I entered the industry five years ago, so when the position came up I knew I had to apply. So far I’m really enjoying the policy management side of my role, particularly with the business’s specialist Masterbrew product which caters for brewers and distillers in the beer and gin sectors. Every brewery and distillery is different and so every policy has different elements. It’s really interesting and I’m learning so much.

“Going forward I’d like to do my Diploma in insurance which the firm has promised to support me through and continue to grow and develop in my role by doing more work on larger accounts.”

Marketing Director at Russell Scanlan Mike Dickinson added that Louise, Sonia and Olivia were excellent additions to the business and he was looking forward to seeing them flourish in their new roles.

He said: “We’re always on the look out for passionate, hard-working and talented staff to join our teams and Louise, Sonia and Olivia ticked every one of our boxes at interview. They bring a refreshing mix of skills and experience to the team and we look forward to seeing what they achieve over the coming months and years.”
