Russell Scanlan gets Cracking with Easter Fundraising for its Annual Charity

The largest independent insurance broker in Nottingham, Russell Scanlan has announced that it will be supporting a project dedicated to helping underprivileged and at-risk children across the East Midlands this year.

The team of 35, which is based at Wellington Circus in the city centre, will be fundraising throughout the year to help provide over 2,000 vulnerable children with Easter eggs and Christmas gifts, as part of the ‘Forget-Me-Notts’ project run by global charity, Operation Orphan.

The charity’s work in the East Midlands also includes providing support to families in times of hardship. Through referrals from social workers, the charity is able to respond to the specific needs of families in the area.

Mike Dickinson, Sales and Marketing Director at Russell Scanlan, said:

“After fundraising for a Nottingham charity last year, we wanted to continue to support a local charity that makes a significant difference to our community. The Forget-Me-Notts project provides a vital service for local children and for many, these gifts will be the only thing they receive. It’s a small gesture, but so important, to ensure that no child feels forgotten.

“We have some exciting plans in the pipeline, starting with the Forget-Me-Notts Easter egg project this month. Anyone can get involved and we are encouraging all of our staff, clients, family and friends to donate either £2 or a Cadbury’s medium sized Easter egg to help us reach our target of 2,000.”

Part of Russell Scanlan’s fundraising for the project will be its annual charity pub quiz at Trent Bridge. The popular event will bring together businesses from across the East Midlands in October.

The business has been committed to supporting local organisations and charities over its 137-year history in Nottingham and has recently raised funds for My Sight Notts, The Nottingham Stroke Club and Linden Lodge Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.

Recent figures have shown that over a third of all children in Nottingham are currently living in poverty and the city is ranked 15th highest in the country for levels of poverty.

Jess Meyers from the Forget-Me-Notts project said that Russell Scanlan’s support will help to make a huge difference to the lives of children across the East Midlands.

She said:

“Operation Orphan works with disadvantaged children across the world, from the Ukraine to Africa and Forget-Me-Notts is a vital strand of this. No child should feel forgotten, especially at special times of the year. Russell Scanlan’s involvement in the project will help to ensure that every child receives an Easter egg and Christmas gift and that underprivileged families receive the support they need.

“We would like to say a huge thank to you to the whole team for their commitment to the project and we can’t wait for some exciting fundraising events throughout the year.”

Russell Scanlan raised over £2,000 for The Nottingham Stroke Club last year, a charity which is affiliated with The National Stroke Association and is the city’s leading support group for those who have suffered from a stroke.
