FOUR TOP TIPS FOR BUILDING MENTAL RESILIENCE IN THE WORKPLACE

FOUR TOP TIPS FOR BUILDING MENTAL RESILIENCE IN THE WORKPLACE

FORMER professional basketball player, author and international speaker John Dabrowski will be offering Derby professionals insight into mental resilience in the workplace at Astute Recruitment’s breakfast business event next month (15 February).

Ahead of the event, John shares his top tips for creating a more positive mindset and managing stress in the office.

  1. Treat problems as a learning process.
Think of challenges as an opportunity to acquire or master new skills. We grow when under pressure, so embrace the chance to build character and confidence.

  2. Celebrate your successes.
Take time at the end of each day to review what went well and congratulate yourself. This trains the mind to look for success rather than dwelling on negativity and ‘failure’.

  3. Set realistic goals.
Break your goals down into smaller steps that are easily achieved. That way, even on the busiest days you will get the satisfaction of knowing you’re still moving forwards.

  4. Take positive action.
Taking action in the face of adversity gives you a sense a control, even if it doesn’t remove the obstacle altogether. When we take action, our minds are focused on that activity – this is one of the best ways to get out of a negative mindset.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the business world, as well as a career as a record-breaking England basketball player, John is an expert in personal growth and mental resilience.

This event is part of a series of ‘business breakfasts’ hosted by Derby-based recruitment agency Astute Recruitment. To book a place at the breakfast event, visit www.astuterecruitment.com/ or email mary.maguire@astuterecruitment.com
