Birstall Nursery Transformed Following Refurbishment

Extensive building programme to remodel village nursery is nearing completion.

Work is nearing completion on a transformational refurbishment project at a popular Leicestershire village nursery following its purchase by Children 1st Day Nurseries.

Children 1st @ Birstall, formerly the Woodlands Day Nursery, has been given a top to toe, internal and external make-over to create a bright and stimulating learning environment for the children and to provide better, safer access for families.

Part of family run nursery group Children 1st Day Nurseries since June 2017, the nursery has been given a major facelift to bring the standards of provision in line with those of other nurseries in the Children 1st group.

Director, Adrian Mason comments, “As well as the need for a general refurbishment, it was evident that there were safety issues with the car park and wasted space that could be put to better use for the benefit of the children’s learning experience.”

Children 1st’s own very experienced building team have done a wonderful job in bringing the facilities at Birstall into the 21st century. The transformation starts outside with rearranged parking facilities which has created more space for outdoor learning. The remodelled entrance, not only makes for a warm and inviting reception area but importantly has improved security, with its additional electronic access.

Once inside, the world of children’s learning and development takes over with all areas benefitting from being redesigned to promote independent learning and a sense of adventure whilst also providing areas for quiet times and relaxing. The removal of some internal walls has created an open plan environment which improves safeguarding as sight lines have been improved.

With a dedicated baby suite, through to areas for growing toddlers to explore such as the art studio, the role play area, the ball pool and the woodland reading area, it’s little wonder that the new look nursery is wowing its young clients. The colourful ball pool which the children requested is a sure-fire hit!

Effective use of space has resulted in enlarged, refurbished outdoor learning areas for each age group which offer a free flow from inside to out. Opportunities for large physical play on new equipment, getting close to nature and quiet times provide a wonderland of fresh air experiences for the children.

Adrian Mason adds, “We’re delighted that this project has proceeded at pace with this major refurbishment taking just 6 months.  Keeping the nursery open whilst the work was ongoing was a challenge but what we have achieved is a reflection of the cooperation and understanding shown by everyone involved.”

Work to upgrade two further Leicestershire nurseries at Syston and Hathern which were also acquired by Children 1st day Nurseries last summer is ongoing. The refurbishment of these new nurseries is part of the company’s wider commitment and investment to ensure that all their nurseries offer the very best learning environments for the young children in their care. In 2014, the company committed to investing £3,000,000 into its nurseries to create unique learning environments for the 3,000 children that attend its nurseries on a daily basis.

Children 1st @ Birstall is now welcoming new registrations and free registration is available. For further information and to book a visit please go to www.children1stdaynurseries.com.
