Document Network Services announce more GDPR Workshops for 2018

Following the success of the GDPR Workshops that Document Network Services delivered in 2017, the Derby based technology supplier have announced another series of workshop dates in the run up to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into effect on 25th May 2018.

The European General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is Europe’s new framework for data protection laws and will replace the previous 1995 Data Protection Directive. The new legislation will make businesses more accountable for the data they process. Fines of up to £17 million or 4 per cent of global turnover may be issued in cases of serious data breaches.

Its provisions in the UK will be covered by a new Data Protection Bill which replaces the current UK legislation (Data Protection Act 1998) and defines how personal data can be used by companies, the government and other organisations.

Darren Marsh, Managing Director at Document Network Services, said “We support the aims of the Data Protection Bill that implements GDPR in full and are committed to helping the wider business community get ready for the new regulations before the 25th May 2018”.

The GDPR Workshops are free to attend and have been designed to help local businesses learn about technology that could help in getting ready for new legislation. Each workshop will cover a range of topics including print management, document management and document capture.

Attendees will have the chance to oversee demonstrations of a wide range of solutions including user authentication; secure print release; secure filing and archiving; and monitoring and reporting.

The GDPR Awareness Workshops will take place at the DNS Innovation Centre – which has been described as ‘the office of the future’ - in Pride Park, Derby between January and March 2018.
