Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

NOTTINGHAM and London join forces as staff from Leonard Design’s UK offices had fun bonding on an away day outing to Derbyshire.

Organised by Nottingham events company Perfect Motion, Leonard Design invited all 80 employees on the trip, which began with a cycle ride to Darwin Lake in Matlock.

Director at Leonard Design, John Morgan said:

“Most of the team cycled 50 kilometres and predominantly uphill, from the University of Nottingham to Matlock, while the rest enjoyed a walk in Derbyshire, before checking into their cottages ready for dinner and more fun activities.

“Away days in the great outdoors are the perfect opportunity for us all to spend some time together in a beautiful environment. We had a great time and Perfect Motion, a Nottingham-based business like us, provided an excellent event service.  Everyone returned to work after the trip feeling revitalised and with a sense of achievement.”

Chris Simon, director at Perfect Motion, said he was pleased everyone had such a memorable time.

He said:

“John asked us to map a safe, but enjoyable cycle ride to Matlock. We designed an interesting and engaging route, but the nature of the journey, meant it was always going to be hilly as well.”

“The safety of the team was our number one priority, so we checked the route twice prior to the event, conducting a thorough risk assessment. On the day, we offered a pretty extensive route support operation, with mechanics, first aid and spare bikes. Riders also enjoyed three planned refreshments stops at local community halls and a fantastic garden centre café.

Staff stayed overnight at Darwin Lake, where they participated in an evening salsa class and a morning pilates session to stretch after the long bike ride and walk. They also took the opportunity over dinner to say a fond farewell to Leonard Design director Mike Nagelsztajn, with cake, presents and a goodbye speech before dancing into the early hours.

Leonard Design Architects, led by a team of highly experienced directors, prides itself on taking a fresh approach, considering the developer’s point of view while prioritising commercial viability, to deliver stunning buildings across the globe from its British, Malaysian and Australian offices.
