POTTER CLARKSON’S TRADE MARK TEAM TOPS OFF STELLAR YEAR

The trade mark team at intellectual property firm, Potter Clarkson LLP has further strengthened its offering with the addition of five newly-qualified individuals, following a year of record growth for the team and for the firm.

Harrison Lee, who joined the team in 2015, has qualified as a UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney, while Sobia Ramzan, Sue Faulconbridge and Wendy Brooks have qualified as CITMA Paralegals, further enhancing the team’s expertise.

This follows a stellar year for the firm’s trade mark credentials, with a successful outcome delivered for all inter-partes cases heard before the UKIPO, the Appointed Person and the High Court during 2017 - including protecting the rights of the trade mark-owning companies of the estates of Elvis Presley and the late rock star, Prince.

The calibre of the team’s work has been recognised with a number of recent accolades, including John Peacock and Sanjay Kapur, who are both Partners and Fellows of The Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, being acknowledged as MIP IP Stars – one of the most prestigious directories for IP practitioners, while Sanjay Kapur has also been recognised as one of the world’s leading practitioners in the field of trade marks in Who’s Who Legal.

Assisted by the firm’s trade mark formalities team, this nineteen-strong team works with a variety of organisations to protect some of the world’s most famous brands across every commercial sector including food and drink, fast-moving consumer goods, health and personal care, textiles, finance, and online gaming.

Commenting on the growth of the team, Managing Partner and Chairman of the management board at Potter Clarkson, Colin Baker, said:

This has been a record year for the trade mark team in terms of growth, with an increasing client portfolio across all sectors and an upturn in cases, in which the team has enjoyed a winning streak across the board.

We are proud of our first-class trade mark offering, which is evidenced in the quality of work being delivered for leading brands, as well as the multiple plaudits the team has received during the past year. This additional expertise brings further strength and capacity to the trade mark team for the benefit of our clients and we are delighted to support our people in developing their careers at Potter Clarkson.
