The mighty Leicester Riders support local charity Hope Against Cancer!

An exciting partnership between Hope Against Cancer and Leicester Riders has been announced with Tyler Bernardini, captain of the Leicester Riders being an ambassador for Hope Against Cancer, and £1 from every ticket sale from a recent match being donated to Hope.

Tyler Bernardini, the 6ft 6in American guard, joined Riders in 2014 and was named captain for the team. Tyler, with a keen eye for marketing having studied at Loughborough University gets heavily involved with the club’s partners, and his latest venture with Hope Against Cancer is no different. He and team mates recently attended Hope Against Cancer’s charity fashion show at Sytner BMW Leicester to announce being an ambassador and show his support.

Tyler commented, “I am extremely excited to be involved with Hope Against Cancer. I was inspired by my conversation with their team and the commitment each person has to their incredible mission. Hope Against Cancer has already made such an amazing impact in the Leicester area regarding cancer treatment and research, and I just hope to be able to bring more exposure to their amazing cause.”

On Wednesday 20th December, Leicester Riders took on the Glasgow Rocks in their second meeting, beating them by 12 points in a thrilling game of both halves at the Leicester Arena. £1 from every ticket bought at this match was donated to Hope Against Cancer, should people have opted to donate £1 of the ticket sale by ticking a box when purchasing their ticket.

Nigel Rose, Chief Executive at Hope Against Cancer said, “We are always humbled and impressed when young, local sporting heroes choose to use their success to help our cause and we are delighted that Tyler has become an ambassador for Hope, we really feel this will create more awareness for us. We’d also like to thank Leicester Riders for kindly donating £1 per match ticket sold from Wednesday’s match, this really does help us reach our fundraising goals and continue to provide our life-saving treatment to Leicestershire patients. We are looking forward to the new year and working with Tyler and Riders further.”

Over the last 6 years the Leicester Riders have captured 9 Trophies, including 3 BBL League Championships and 2 Play-Off Final Trophies.
