HOMEBUILDER GETS INTO THE SWING OF THINGS WITH GOLF DAY FUNDRAISER

A charity golf day arranged by Bardon-based David Wilson Homes East Midlands has raised £5,231.69 for its Charity of the Year, Teenage Cancer Trust.

106 golfers, including David Wilson Homes’ staff, suppliers and subcontractors, took part in the fundraising tournament, which was held at Willesley Park Golf Club in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

The amount raised was matched by the homebuilder’s parent company, Barratt Developments, to take the total amount to £10,463.38.

The tournament was won by a team from CPI Mortars and G Seal, two of David Wilson Homes’ suppliers.

Teenage Cancer Trust create world-class cancer services for young people in specialist units, local hospitals and in homes across the UK, providing life-changing care and support so young people don’t have to face cancer alone.

The money raised from David Wilson Homes’ golf day will contribute to providing expert treatment and help for young people battling the illness.

Joanne Benbow, Regional Fundraiser East Midlands at Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “We are so grateful for the support of David Wilson Homes. Their golf day brought staff, contractors and clients together to support Teenage Cancer Trust and it was a huge success, raising the highest total that David Wilson Homes East Midlands has ever raised for a charity.

“Without supporters like David Wilson Homes, Teenage Cancer Trust wouldn’t exist as we don’t receive any government funding for our work.”

Darren Langton, Construction Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, who took part in the competition, said, “The tournament was a great day of golf enjoyed by all, made even better knowing that we were raising vital funds for a deserving charity. It’s good to know that the money will be put towards saving and improving people’s lives.”
