STEPNELL WINS PLACE ON £8BN NATIONAL SCHOOLS FRAMEWORK IN SOUTH WEST AND SOUTH EAST

Regional construction specialist Stepnell, which has offices in Rugby, has won a place on the flagship four-year, £8 billion Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Construction Framework for the delivery of new school buildings across England.

The £160 million turnover firm is one of 33 contractors to be appointed to the four-year school buildings framework which is divided into three value bands with 22 lots. Stepnell will deliver mid-band education projects valued between £4.5 million and £12 million in the South East and South West which have a total worth of £810 million.  The firm is one of seven contractors selected for the £570 million South East lot, and six delivering the £240 million lot in the South West.

The ESFA framework will provide a procurement route for educators to build free schools, academies and university technical colleges and will be available for schools and local authorities to use for their own projects.

“We’re really delighted to have secured a place on this hugely important education framework which is set to transform the learning environment for pupils and educators across the country -  providing state-of-the art school buildings where they are needed most,” says Tom Wakeford, joint managing director for Stepnell. “This appointment recognises Stepnell’s collaborative construction approach and significant expertise in building for the education sector. We look forward to working with our ESFA partners in the delivery of a new generation of high-performance educational facilities in the South East and South West."
