LOCAL HOMEBUILDER BRANCHES OUT TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL TREE WEEK

Nottinghamshire-based homebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands is marking National Tree Week by emphasising the importance of planting trees at its developments.

In the past financial year, the North Midlands division has planted and retained over 21,880 new trees and shrubs at its developments across its operational area, with open rural spaces being an important part of building a community at Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ developments.

National Tree Week from The Tree Council runs from Saturday 25th November to Sunday 3rd December and includes a number of organised activities, from tree dressing and planting to woodland walks.

Jan Ruston, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “Open spaces are an incredibly important part of creating a new community, meaning our developments are more than just bricks and mortar but leave a lasting legacy for the future generations.”

The Tree Council is the UK's lead charity for trees, promoting their importance in a changing environment whilst co-ordinating and managing a national volunteer Tree Warden Scheme, fundraising and distributing grants for planting trees, woodland wildflowers, bluebells and hedges.

National Tree Week is an annual campaign full of valuable and accessible events, inspiring around a quarter of a million people to get their hands dirty and collectively plant around a million trees*.

While Barratt and David Wilson Homes strives to plant or retain an average of 20 trees, shrubs and climbers for every home it builds throughout the year, the housebuilder is devoting even more attention to the week of this campaign in order to highlight the positive impact of planting trees.

Barratt Homes is currently building homes at the following developments in Nottinghamshire: Hollygate Park in Cotgrave, Maple Gardens in Mansfield Woodhouse, Lantern Fields in East Leake, Woodhouse Park in Nottingham, Gateford Park in Worksop and Edwalton Park in Edwalton.

David Wilson Homes is also building properties at its Worksop development Sparken Hill Gardens.
