Chamber supports Buckie’s tour

Burton and District Chamber of Commerce has thrown its weight behind our #BuckieLovesSmallBiz tour – taking place in Burton-on-Trent for Small Business Saturday on December 2.

 

Chris Plant, director at Greater Birmingham Chambers, said: “I am really looking forward to seeing small businesses in the town join us for this event – as they are the lifeblood of our town centres. Whether it’s a local solicitor, manufacturer, builder, florist, jeweller or bookshop – all of these companies keep our local communities going; creating jobs, driving growth and ensuring our high streets survive and succeed.”

Tilley Bancroft, one of this year’s national #SmallBiz100 companies, will be heading up the #BuckieLovesSmallBiz tour with Buckie, her big, blue, mischievous puppet. More details, and the full itinerary of businesses that Buckie and his entourage will visit, can be seen here.

Chris added: “We wanted to do something fun to celebrate Small Business Saturday UK this year that would unite all the diverse businesses that are thriving in the town. Both local retailers and professional services can be seen as shining examples in the region, if they use the campaign to promote their businesses and to shop local too!”

Tilley, who runs Red Door Studios and was a founder member of Burton Small Business, explained: “It’s going to be a really celebratory day. Buckie, our two-person-operated puppet, will have an entourage following him taking pictures and videos and putting Burton businesses firmly on the map on Small Business Saturday.”

Tilley said: “Buckie can be a bit cheeky. He loves to poke his nose into whatever’s going on and he loves having selfies taken. We think it will be a lot of fun.”

Buckie put in an appearance when the 2017 Small Business Saturday bus tour rolled into Leciestershire. You can watch a short video of his adventures there on the Red Door Studio’s YouTube channel.

Tilley, and her Burton Small Business partners Elaine Pritchard and Cheryl Morris, are calling on all local businesses to join the tour and put a smile on the face of shoppers and traders alike.
