DERBY MD CELEBRATES SUCCESS AT LOCAL BUSINESS BREAKFAST

BUSINESS leaders from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire gathered yesterday (7 November) to hear about their role in refreshing the economic strategy for the area and HS2 plans at a D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership’s business breakfast.

Held at the Derby Silk Mill, attendees heard from a series of guest speakers, including D2N2 chief executive David Ralph.

Also among the guest speakers was Mary Maguire, managing director of Astute Recruitment, which has offices in both Derby and Nottingham. Mary spoke about her journey setting up her now award-winning business.

Mary said: “I was honoured to be asked to speak at this event and share my story as a business owner.

“There are lots of opportunities available in both Derby and Nottingham right now – it’s a really exciting time for the region, so it was great to be able to get together with other business leaders and share ideas and celebrate successes.”

The event was the third in a series of breakfasts being held throughout November.

Each year D2N2 – the private sector-led partnership of business, local authorities, skills and training providers, community and voluntary services, and others promoting economic and jobs growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – hosts free business breakfasts across its area. The events are a chance to consult businesses on future LEP plans and tell them about recent successes.

Astute has worked to secure more than 1000 jobs for local businesses and is continuing to go from strength to strength, with a view to further expansion across the Midlands.

Astute currently works across the East Midlands, recruiting for permanent and temporary accounts staff across Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire.
