Pentaxia appoints new business development director as move to new facility begins

Advanced composites manufacturer, Pentaxia prepares for growth with the appointment of Russ Meddes as business development director, as its begins its move into a new six-acre site on Alfreton Road in Derby.

With 30 year’s experience of technical management in multidisciplinary teams throughout the UK, Russ is accomplished in product development through autoclave, RTM, compression moulding and filament winding processes for sectors including defence, aerospace and oil and gas.

Stephen Ollier, managing director at Pentaxia said: “We are particularly pleased that Russ has joined Pentaxia at a time when the company is experiencing rapid growth. Russ has a wealth of knowledge in the advanced composite arena, developing leading edge components and production processes across a wide array of markets.

“He is well known and respected throughout our industry and I am confident he will play a vital part in helping us develop the right technologies to be able to offer our future customers the services they need from our new production facility.”

The family-owned firm has started the process of moving equipment from its home in Longbridge Lane into its new 70,0002 ft. manufacturing facility, ready for staff to make the transition in the new year. A six-month programme to refurbish and upgrade the site will start immediately. The £1.5m investment in the site will include new manufacturing equipment which will double the firm’s existing production capability.

Over the years Pentaxia has invested heavily in the latest manufacturing equipment and the best staff which means the team have a great reputation in the market place.

“We’ll be moving to a superb new manufacturing facility in Derby, which provides the ideal platform on which to grow the business. I am really looking forward to working with the management team and the staff to help them to deliver the next generation of advanced composite components that our blue-chip customers will be needing. Pentaxia has a really positive future, so once we are housed in the new building we will have the foundations to create a pioneering composite company.”
