Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

NATIONAL accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young has added fresh talent to its Nottingham-based team with the appointment of two new trainees.

L-R Jack Brown and Sam Klyman

School leaver Sam Klyman, 18, and 21-year-old Jack Brown, who has 18 months’ experience, have joined the firm in Nottingham as Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) trainees.

The duo will work to become experts in accountancy cloud-based software Xero, which can be accessed from anywhere at any time on any device with an internet connection.

Liz Searby, partner at UHY, said: “Xero is really going to change the way accounting records are kept. They can be accessed remotely by different people and using different pieces of kit – it’s timesaving, puts a lot of flexibility into the process and creates more efficient working.

“Cloud accounting is really pushing growth in our client support department. We have invested a lot of time and resources into training so we can provide support to our clients, demonstrating our commitment to the area.

“These appointments take our team in client support to seven so it is an area of practice that is expanding, largely thanks to the work we are doing with clients and cloud accounting.”

Xero can be used by clients to manage invoicing, bank reconciliation, bookkeeping and more, allowing them to run their business from any internet-connected device.

Simon Browning, partner at UHY, said: “For years accounting records have been kept on software packages which are put onto individual desktops or laptops, meaning they can only be retrieved by the person who has access to that certain piece of equipment. Xero puts them into the cloud, meaning a person is not tied to a desk and a particular piece of hardware.

“We have been using Xero for a couple of years now and we have witnessed its growth first hand. It has become a very important piece of software and more and more clients are wanting to use this.

“We’re delighted to welcome Sam and Jack to UHY. They will be given all of the training they need to become Xero experts and the opportunity to work their way up the ranks at UHY will be presented to them. We look forward to seeing them flourish in their new roles.”
