SUCCESS FOR WILLMOTT DIXON WITH NATIONAL AWARD WIN

CONTRACTOR Willmott Dixon was again crowned the ‘Best Main Contractor to Work For (Over £250m)’ at the Construction Enquirer Awards in Birmingham last week (10 October).

More than 10,000 votes were cast across 13 categories at this year’s awards, held at the Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham, with Willmott Dixon gaining more than any of the nine other UK contractors in its category to achieve the title for the second consecutive year.

The national award follows Willmott Dixon achieving 14th spot in this year’s Sunday Times Best 100 companies to work for, the highest placed construction firm on the list.

The two accolades follow a successful 12 months for Willmott Dixon in the Midlands, with a growing team working on a string of projects including the £27 million BioCity Discovery building in Nottingham, now completed, and the £30 million Lincoln Transport Hub currently being built.

Peter Owen, managing director of Willmott Dixon’s Midlands team, said: “It is always very pleasing to receive an award for work and initiatives we have undertaken, as both a contractor and an employer, but what makes this win especially satisfying is that it was our staff and network that took the time to vote for us.

“I think this shows that when you have a really fantastic team, the positive and innovative environment created makes for both a great place to work and for our suppliers and clients to work with.”

Scape, Willmott Dixon’s partner on The National Construction framework, also retained its title of ‘Best Client to Work With (Public and Private)’ for the second year.

Matt Carrington-Moore, chief marketing officer at Scape Group, said: “We are extremely proud to be recognised by the industry for the second year in a row; our latest Construction Enquirer award is not only a fantastic accolade, but a powerful recognition of the hard work of each and every member of the Scape team.

“Across every part of our business we have developed a culture of positive collaboration and partnership, a ‘one team’ approach, which delivers the highest quality outcomes for the public sector. It is the strength of this commitment within Scape which will underpin our future success.”

The Construction Enquirer Awards are dedicated to recognising and rewarding the industry’s best companies to work for and the best firms to do business with from across the UK.
