NOTTINGHAM LAW FIRM APPOINTS FOUR NEW PARTNERS

NELSONS Solicitors has promoted four employees to partners in its Nottingham office.

Harpreet Sandhu, Emma Ward, Phil Terry and Simon Thatcher have collectively worked for Nelsons for more than 26 years and are delighted their efforts and dedication have been recognised by the law firm.

Commercial expert Harpreet qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and joined Nelsons’ commerce and technology team in 2016. He advises on a range of areas including product development, franchising, intellectual property licensing, IT projects and outsourcing.

He said: “Being promoted to partner gives me the chance to develop the team and focus on key strategic areas – it’s a very exciting time and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Independent financial adviser Simon – who advises on charity investments, life assurance and pensions – joined Nelsons in 2013 after spending eight years working as a financial adviser at HSBC. Before that, he spent two years with Alliance and Leicester and eight years with Norwich Union, all in the East Midlands.

Simon said: “In the three-and-a-half years since I joined Nelsons, I have seen the team almost double in size and it has been a fantastic experience to have been part of such a dynamic and enthusiastic group of people. I am equally excited to see how the team continues to grow and develop long into the future.”

Phil, also an independent financial adviser in the investment management team, joined Nelsons in 2008 and specialises in investment advice for individuals, trustees, deputies and attorneys.

He said: “I am very proud to be promoted to partner at Nelsons and feel this is recognition of my commitment and dedication over the past nine years. Over this period, our investment management team has grown significantly and I am looking forward to building on the continued success of the firm.”

Intellectual property (IP) specialist Emma has also been promoted to partner. She qualified as a solicitor in 2007 after joining Nelsons in 2005 and specialises in IP disputes.

Emma said: “One of Nelsons’ great strengths is its regional heavyweight status – we’re large enough to be able to offer specialist advice across a broad range of disciplines but not so large as to lose our ability to deliver that expertise to clients with a bespoke and personal service.

“Since I qualified in 2007, awareness of the importance of IP to a business has grown and we regularly advise clients who need proactive and cogent advice on how best to protect and enforce their IP as the valuable asset it is. I look forward to continuing to provide that advice as a partner of the firm.”
