MOCK TRIBUNAL TO RAISE AWARENESS OF CHANGES TO EMPLOYMENT LEGISLATION

MOCK TRIBUNAL TO RAISE AWARENESS OF CHANGES TO EMPLOYMENT LEGISLATION

A Nottingham-based HR and employment law specialist is hosting a mock employment tribunal to raise awareness of legislative changes for businesses.

Your HR Lawyer will host the event at the National Justice Museum in the Lace Market on Wednesday 4 October, to showcase the challenges for companies when they are involved in an employment tribunal.

The Supreme Court has ruled that fees ranging between £390 and £1,200 for bringing a claim against an employer are now unlawful. This means that anyone seeking to bring a claim against their employer will not have to pay and the government will now have to repay up to £32 million to claimants.

The interactive mock trial will highlight these issues and include discussions about preparing for claims, the costs of defending them and when it might be time to settle. Attendees will also have the chance to hear a case based on real events, and be able to ask questions of the legal team to help them better understand the tribunal process.

Nickie Elenor, managing director of Your HR Lawyer, is warning that businesses will need to be prepared in case of a rise in the number of claims.

She said:

"The introduction of issue fees caused a great reduction in the number of claims being lodged against employers, especially nuisance claims. Although the abolishment of the fees is in the interest of people being able to access justice, employers need to be prepared for claims that they may have coming their way.

"The best way to avoid a claim is to do things properly and know what to expect should things go wrong, so that is why we are running this event. Preparation and planning!"

The event runs between 9.00am and 2.00pm and tickets are priced at £35+VAT. To book your place, click here.
