A Derby based optical practice has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award. Richard Petrie Optometrists has been announced as one of three finalists in the new category of Health and Wellbeing Practice of the Year in the AOP Awards 2018, run by the Association of Optometrists (AOP).

Davina Dosanjh who is the owner and one of the Optometrists at Richard Petrie Optometrists said she was delighted they had made it to the shortlist in this category, commenting:

“It is lovely to receive this recognition. We all work hard and the team makes the practice what it is. It’s a real boost to morale.”

The AOP Awards recognises the highest levels of achievement in UK optics, and saw a 75% increase in entrants this year. To accommodate its growing popularity, the awards will again take place at leading trade event, 100% Optical.

The Health and Wellbeing Practice of the Year is a new accolade that celebrates practices which understand the important role that health and wellbeing can play in job satisfaction. Particularly it recognises practices which have actively employed management systems and initiatives to motivate, engage and support their staff.

AOP Chief Executive, Henrietta Alderman, said:

“The AOP Awards are about recognising practitioners who contribute so much to the public and profession.” Adding, “With this year seeing more unique entries than ever before, our finalists have achieved so much by getting this far.”

Members of the public can cast their vote, and find out more about the Awards, by visiting www.aop.org.uk/awardsvote before 2pm, Tuesday 12 December. Results will be announced at a black tie dinner on Sunday 28 January 2018.
