LOCAL CHARITIES TO RECEIVE YEAR LONG SUPPORT FROM NELSONS

LEADING East Midlands law firm Nelsons Solicitors has announced its chosen charities for the coming year.

The company – which has offices in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby – will be supporting organisations in each area across the region through various charitable events.

Every year, Nelsons staff vote for charities they wish to support and this year they have selected Wishes 4 Kids, NSPCC and Alzheimer’s Society.

Stewart Vandermark, chief executive at Nelsons, said:

“We are delighted to support these charities for the next 12 months, all of which are truly inspirational. It is important for us at Nelsons to give back and support causes which make real differences to the lives of others.

“We’ll be holding various fundraising events during the year at our offices to raise money to support the work of Wishes 4 Kids, NSPCC and Alzheimer’s Society.”

Nelsons staff in Leicester will be raising money for Wishes 4 Kids, which grants wishes for children and youngsters in Leicestershire who are life-limited or terminally ill.

Janine Bates, trustee at Wishes 4 Kids, said:

“We are delighted to have been chosen as this year’s nominated charity by the staff at Nelsons Solicitors Leicester office.

“All funds raised will be used to grant the wishes of very poorly, local children. Once their wishes have been granted, we will be able to let everyone know where their money has been used.”

Nelsons staff in Derby will be raising money for the local branch of children’s charity NSPCC, which works to prevent abuse and help those affected to recover

Claire Campbell, community fundraising manager at NSPCC, said:

“We are delighted Nelsons has agreed to support the NSPCC during the coming year. We are sure working collaboratively with Nelsons is going to be a great partnership and the team already has some terrific fundraising plans in hand. The team at Nelsons are hugely passionate about helping local children and with their backing we will be able to reach more children in Derby and Derbyshire.”

Nelsons staff in Nottingham will be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society, the UK's leading dementia support and research charity.

Danielle Hindle, community fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society, said:

“Being diagnosed with dementia can be a frightening and overwhelming experience. Our dementia support workers can help by working directly with people in this situation and their carers to maintain their independence, improve their sense of wellbeing and provide healthy lifestyle advice.

“Alzheimer’s Society provides a dementia support service in Nottinghamshire, alongside Singing for the Brain groups and dementia cafes. Dementia support workers are available for home visits or can give advice at our local groups.

“We are incredibly grateful that staff at Nelsons Solicitors are supporting Alzheimer’s Society as their charity of the year through a range of fundraising activities. It is only due to our generous and committed supporters that we are able to continue in our fight to unite against dementia.”

Last year, Nelsons staff raised more than £3,800 across the East Midlands for its chosen charities – Rainbows, Macmillan Derby and Wolds First Response Trust.
