Teddy bears mark 20th anniversary for Notts retailer

FOUR long-serving members of staff and 20 teddy bears joined forces this week to celebrate House of Fraser’s 20th anniversary at intu Victoria Centre in Nottingham.

Jane Wealthall, Kath Robinson, Elizabeth Kosmala and Steve Machin have all been based at House of Fraser in Nottingham since it first opened its doors in 1997.

The House of Fraser team have been working together to source old editions of ‘Fraser Bears’ – House of Fraser’s annual commemorative teddies - to celebrate the anniversary, with these bears now in their own window display to mark this exciting milestone.

Speaking of the anniversary, formalwear brand specialist at House of Fraser, Steve said: “It’s really exciting to still be here after 20 years and to be part of this important milestone. Over the years we have seen real changes in the habits of Nottingham shoppers, as back in 1997 a lot of the brands we house were not available here, whereas now, everything is more readily available.

“The changes over the years are definitely not a bad thing, as now more than ever we are noticing that our customers visit us for advice and guidance when shopping – in store retail is now more about experience than ever before and I am proud to be part of a business which delivers high quality service.”

The big birthday celebrations coincide with the autumn winter fashion activity at intu Victoria Centre, which sees fashion displays throughout the centre and retailer instore events such as House of Fraser’s fashion and beauty event last weekend.

Nigel Wheatley, general manager for intu in Nottingham, said: “We are delighted to be part of House of Fraser’s anniversary celebrations and are in love with its display of 20 Fraser Bears! We have so many exciting new autumn winter fashion lines in our stores, with many of our retailers hosting their own fashion-forward events like House of Fraser’s own fashion and beauty event.”
