Triumph for Mary as she wins SILVER at Wella's prestigious TrendVision Awards 2017.

One of Nottingham's leading hair stylists has been named the SILVER winner in the UK colour category at the hair industry's most prestigious awards ceremony.

Wella's TrendVision final revealed the top talent chosen from six previous heats who came together to battle it out to be crowned the prestigious winner of a TrendVision Award 2017, cementing their place as one of the best hairdressing talents in the UK and Ireland. 

Mary Geoghegan, advanced stylist at KH Hair in Castle Gate, was competing in the UK Colour Vision category. To reach the final she had successfully passed a photographic submission round before competing live on stage at the regional finals held at the East Midlands Conference Centre on 8 May.

On Tuesday 5th September, her and her fellow competitors spent hours perfecting their creations to show off on the catwalk in front of 800 guests at a glittering evening held at the RoundHouse in London.  Working with her model, Fiona Manneh, Mary impressed the judges who had asked for a look with an 'individual vision of beautiful, wearable and inspiring salon-relevant hair'. 

Mary (28) who lives near the City centre, said: “I couldn't believe it when they announced my name. I'm absolutely over the moon.  I went to the ceremony as a spectator last year and was blown away by the talent of the finalists so, to be up there with them, was a dream come true. I'm so proud the judges understood my vision and recognised my creativity in this way."

Salon directors, Debbie and Sean McMenamin and their team were there on the night to cheer Mary on.  "We are so proud of Mary and delighted she has been honoured in this way. " said Debbie. "Mary is so talented and focused on her work and her attention to detail is quite remarkable.  It's brilliant news for our hard-working team too who have been right behind her and supporting her to live her dream. However, it was her sheer drive, talent and vision that shone through on the night and so impressed the judges. She so deserves this success."

As well as receiving a trophy on the night, Mary will also benefit from a programme of mentoring from some of the industry's top icons and the support of a Wella tailor-made development programme.
