Coalville firm scoops prize at charity event

After raising £2,000 for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, Coalville firm K-Flex UK has won the coveted Charity Prize at this year’s Dragon Boat Challenge

The prized dragon trophy is given to the team which raises the most money for Rainbows at the event, held in Nottingham, and now has pride of place at the company’s Coalville site on the Jackson Street Industrial Estate, where K-Flex manufacture and distribute insulation products and beverage dispensing equipment.

Pictured holding the prestigious trophy is Dirk Parker, UK General Manager (left) and Steve Yearsley, Production Manager.

Mr Parker said: “Rainbows was our first chosen charity back in 2013. Since then we have decided each year to continue to support Rainbows. It’s the very essence of what we believe a charity should be: Small enough to care and large in impact of their delivery. The Dragon Boat event was the best way to get our colleagues involved in an event to both enhance the team spirit and help our charity of choice. We’ll definitely be taking part next year and hope to retain the trophy!”

The Dragon Boat Challenge takes place every August in aid of Rainbows along the River Trent in Nottingham alongside the popular Riverside Festival. Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the event which raised over £20,000 this year.

Tom Stanyard, Corporate Partnership Fundraiser at Rainbows said: “We’re delighted that the team at K-Flex have won the charity prize this year. It’s a fitting reward not just for their efforts at the Dragon Boat but for all the support they’ve been giving to Rainbows for the past five years. With little guaranteed funding each year, it’s the generosity of individuals and companies like K-Flex that mean we’re able to continue providing vital care to the region’s most seriously ill children, young people and their families.”
