Birchover zoom straight to number 1 in Nottingham...again

Derby-based apartment-hotel business The Birchover Residences are ranked number 1 in Nottingham by guest reviews for their newest hotel at Bridgford Hall.

The Birchover Residences Bridgford Hall opened in late May 2017 and has already jumped straight to number one on Booking.com when ranking hotels by guest reviews in Nottingham. The first fifty reviews have rated Birchover at an average score of 9.6 out of 10.

Birchover worked closely with Rushcliffe Borough Council and English Heritage to complete a £2.1m refurbishment of the property, which had previously been council offices. The results of the refurbishment are stunning - creating large, luxurious and airy apartments within the attractive Bridgford Hall. All of the apartments feature large lounge, kitchen and dining areas, spacious bedrooms and gorgeous bathrooms – some of which have free-standing roll-top baths. Orla Kiely toiletries are provided and guests can wrap themselves in the Egyptian cotton bedding atop the sumptuous mattresses of each bed. Free parking, free Wifi and a welcome pack of goodies all add to the experience.

Prior to opening, Birchover’s management team worked closely with the local community to decide on the names of the seven suites at Bridgford Hall. Some names could have been predicted by many in the local community, with the Musters family deserving of recognition for their historic connections to the hall and surroundings. More colourful stories informed the naming of the Millicent Suite – Millicent being the lady who won the hall in a game of cards! The Byron Suite is a nod to Lord Byron who coveted the young lady of the house and sent her love letters. The Cook and Holmes Suites recognise perhaps lesser-known locals who contributed greatly to the West Bridgford community. Within each suite, there is a framed explanation of the origin of the name of that suite for guests to read.

Kieran Howell, managing director of The Birchover Residences, feels that this community interaction has helped Birchover integrate into the local area, whilst giving a real sense of personality to the hotel. “We loved hearing the stories associated with the many characters who have played a big part in the West Bridgford community. We know that our guests love to read the history behind the name of the suite they are staying in. It definitely adds some colour and interest to the suite and their stay”.

Reviews have been provided by guests who had a wide range of reasons for their stay. Since opening, there has been a test match at Trent Bridge, the new football season has started for Nottingham Forest and Notts County, two triathlons have taken place, whilst a major regatta was held at the National Watersports Centre.

In addition to these events, Kieran states that “we are getting a large number of bookings from the friends and families of West Bridgford residents, who love staying so close by. Lots of local companies have been in touch too and we have many regular guests, including the new CEO of a Nottingham business. The summer holidays have brought lots of families from the UK and abroad to West Bridgford. And we’re seeing a rapid increase each month in the number of bookings from couples looking to have a romantic break at our hotel. We heartily recommend that all of these guests head along Central Avenue for food, drink and shopping, so we’re looking to continue building great relationships with local businesses too”.

This is the third time that a Birchover apartment-hotel has topped the rankings in Nottingham. Their Victoria Street Residences were top of the charts for much of 2014 and 2015 after opening in July 2014. Soon after, their Park Gate Residences took over the number one spot. With Birchover’s Darley Abbey apartment-hotel in Derby having been named as a Trip Advisor Top 25 hotel in the UK and the business being recognised as the Best Small Hotel Company to work for in the UK in 2013, this new success builds on the heritage of the business overall.
