Innovative E-Learning for Flood Protection Industry

Flood Protection Solutions Ltd have heavily invested in the latest technology with an eLearning portal, as they aim to drive the flood protection industry forwards, and help more people across the U.K reduce their risk of flooding.

Simon Crowther, Director, explains:

We’re passionate about helping as many people as possible protect themselves from flooding. To reach our goals we have had to disrupt a traditional industry which used to heavily rely on sandbags. To further push the industry forwards, we have developed an eLearning portal which we believe will be unique to Flood Protection Solutions Ltd in the industry.

The Water-Gate barrier, is very simple to use and requires limited training. As Flood Protection Solutions Ltd grew, more and more barriers were being sold which meant they had more customers asking for training. Training was not factored in to quotes, and as the business covers the whole of the U.K, it was a large cost to the business - in time, travel, staffing costs and accommodation. The team wanted to ensure training was easily accessible.

Flood Protection Solutions are very passionate about helping as many people as possible, and have great case studies of their work.

Flooding and its effects can be very unpredictable so training is extremely important. Following months of research and development, they heavily invested in creating an eLearning portal, so that customers are confident with the product deployment. The portal means training can be ‘on-demand’ and revisited as often as required. Adam Bayliss, Team Member at the Environment Agency recently explained that:

An E-Learning package is a really good tool to supplement the training scenarios that we run. It will ensure our teams have access to the best possible training to effectively install temporary flood defences to protect people and property. The ‘knowledge check’ and interactive element of the package is a real plus point, it ensures that the training is re-enforced and understood.

Flood Protection Solutions Ltd are hopeful that this investment will mean the Water-Gate is used more and more widely across the U.K, and as a result, flood responses are improved.
