Leading developer of affordable and open market housing, Westleigh Homes, has appointed a member of staff who has been with the company for almost 15 years to its main board of directors.

Danny Lang, who started his career with Westleigh in December 2002 as a Site Engineer, progressed to become a Design Engineer and then Civil Design Manager, and has now taken up a position as Technical Director.

Danny’s new remit will include overall management of the firm’s engineering requirements, along with civil design. He will also strengthen the relationship between his department and colleagues in areas such as production and construction.

His role is a newly-created position, to provide additional expertise on Westleigh’s board, reflecting the impressive growth of the company over recent years. Westleigh Partnerships Ltd recently announced an increase of more than 35% in its annual turnover year-on-year.

Danny said: “This is a new and exciting role within the company. Building high quality houses is just as complex as you’d imagine and finding the solutions to overcome the challenges we face is something I take great pride and satisfaction in.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to streamline our current way of working and that is an area of particular focus for me. We are continually looking at and trialling different modern methods of construction, this research and development is key to support the company’s growth as we expand into new regions.”

Ian Jones, Managing Director of Westleigh, said: “I’d like to congratulate Danny on his promotion to the board, we are delighted to have his expertise and input in an executive position.

“He is a long serving member of our team and knows the technical side of our business inside out. With our ongoing expansion and growth into new territory, alongside significant investment from Palatine Private Equity, a position opened up for someone to oversee this side of our business across all regions. Danny’s experience made him the perfect candidate for this role.”

Another member of the Westleigh directorship is marking one year in her role. Finance Director Kathryn Facey brings more than 25 years’ experience as a senior finance professional to the Westleigh boardroom, and is highly experienced in working in complex business and contractual environments and has expertise in working with Private Equity firms.

Her appointment to the board followed the investment by Palatine Private Equity last summer and since her arrival, the company’s turnover has increased more than £30m year-on-year.

She reflected: “This has been a momentous 12 months for Westleigh Partnerships Ltd and I am delighted to have been able to contribute to the great strides forward that we have made.

“We have restructured our finance and IT management processes to support the growth of the business and have made it a priority to improve the management of business information, allowing more informed decisions to be made, and enhancing the efficiency of our corporate structure.

“Westleigh is an exciting place to work at the moment, the people are fantastic and the business has an infectious positivity about it.

“I’m enjoying playing a role in putting the growth strategy into place and putting my expertise of working with private equity into practise, and doing so in a product-led business that is building for the future.”

Managing Director Ian Jones said of Kathryn: “She has a real depth of experience in finance and that has proven to be invaluable for us at a time when we are expanding rapidly. We have been thrilled with how quickly she has grasped our business and she will continue to play a crucial role in shaping our future direction.”
