WILLMOTT DIXON GETS BEHIND CORPORATE GAMES

WILLMOTT Dixon staff swapped their hard hats and hi-vis for trainers and golf clubs after signing up to sponsor and participate in the UK Corporate Games in Nottingham (6-9 July).

Up to 50 staff members and partners took on challenges including go karting, dragon boat racing, cycling, running and golf, with many more taking up the role of cheerleader on the sidelines.

Some of the standout successes included a top ten female finish overall in the 10km race and six semi-finalists in the karting.

Lisa Cawdron, account manager at Willmott Dixon, was one of the team taking part by running in the 10km race on Saturday morning. She said: “We’re a really competitive bunch at Willmott Dixon, so we jumped at the chance to get involved with the UK Corporate Games and take part in a range of different events.

“Sport is something that is really important to us as a business – we sponsor Beeston Cycling Club locally, for instance – as well as important to many of our team; there is regularly someone taking on a marathon or a cycling challenge!

“For all of the team that took part, it was an excellent opportunity to showcase our team’s talents outside of the workplace, or to try their hand at a new activity entirely, in a fun and friendly environment and we all had a fantastic weekend of sport.”

Operations director for Willmott Dixon in the East Midlands, Nick Heath added: “As well as being great fun for everyone taking part, by hosting the games in Nottingham we had an excellent opportunity to show off just how fantastic the city is and the amazing facilities we have here.

“We are very proud to have supported the UK Corporate Games as a sponsor as part of our ongoing commitment to the region and sport.”

The UK Corporate Games took place from 6 – 9 July at venues across the city and involved more than 70 businesses from across the country.
