Rock Fall celebrates 6 months of Amazon partnership

Rock Fall are the most widely specified safety footwear brand in the Construction Industry. The range is a key part of the approved list for a multitude of principal contractors and blue chip construction companies that include: Kier, Balfour Beatty, Bam Nuttall, J Murphy and Sons, Thames Water, UK Power Networks, Amey, Galliford Try, Cape, Laing O’Rourke, Manchester Airport Group.

In January 2017, the company, noticing the trends in the B2B sector took the decision to enter in a direct trade agreement with Amazon, which saw the complete catalogue of Rock Fall products stocked by the largest internet based retailer in the world.

Rock Fall had watched with interest as Amazon launched their pilot B2B program in the US and subsequently in Germany, when the program was muted for the UK, they were excited to see what would happen.

Selected styles from their range had previously been sold by 3rd party retailers, but the range had never been so widely available. The addition of Amazon Prime expedited delivery options to the end customer was another key reason for the deal.

6 months into the relationship the range has sold well and confidence is increasing for both parties. So much so that the second generation footwear manufacturer has chosen to participate in this years Amazon Prime Day, taking place on and around the 11th of July. Prime Day is the retailers’ annual deals event. Prime Day is one of the world’s best days to shop, with thousands of deals and special offers.

Richard Noon, Director at Rock Fall said

“Statistics show that more consumers in both the B2B and B2C sector start researching products on Amazon than they do Search Engines. The market position of Amazon is unrivalled and this is the type of opportunity that we as an SME would be foolish to turn away. We have worked hard in recent years to build the range and brand, so we are elated that this has resulted in a direct trade deal with Amazon.”

“We will never sell directly to any consumers, our route to market is via our network of authorised distribution partners and we are proud that Amazon is now part of this list. Export is a large part of our growth strategy, which has seen us yield an increase of 387% in turnover in the past 5 years. The market exposure that being listed on Amazon gives us, helps us to target major partnerships in new export destinations around the world. There are huge customer bases around the world that work with brick and mortar, or traditional industrial supply companies, we feel that the Amazon partnership reinforces these relationships, rather than working against them.”

Rock Fall are keen to add to their impressive list of export destinations which include their home and principal market of UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Romania, Slovenia, Malta, Nigeria, Liberia, Libya, Kenya, Qatar, UAE, New Zealand, Brunei, Singapore. The company has ambition to sell in China.
