Solutions uses pedal power to raise charity cash

A team of riders from Solutions for Accounting and CRM hopes to raise more than £2,000 for charity when it competes in this year’s Great Notts Bike Ride.

The Nottingham-based financial and business management software provider, which also has an office in Derby, will donate the cash to the Nottingham Children’s Hospital (NCH).

Solutions has taken part in the event for the past two years and the team it is entering this year is its biggest yet, comprising 19 members of staff. Most of its team members are taking part in the 25-mile ride, but four are tackling the 50-mile one and five will push themselves by entering the 75-mile competition.

Iain Barker, the firm’s managing director, said: “We are looking forward to getting back on our bikes and taking part in the Great Notts Bike Ride to raise money for such a great local charity. We are aware of the wonderful work that the charity is doing and want to help in any way we can.

“This is the third consecutive year we have competed in this event and each year our team grows. I am thrilled that as a company, we are able to pull together to really make a difference.

“We can do that only with the support of our generous customers, business partners, employees and families, who are once again digging deep for an amazing cause.”

Last year, the firm raised £2,000 from the bike ride for its 2016 charity, the Alzheimer’s Society. It is hoping to smash that total this year for NCH, which provides support to children and their families during their time in hospital.

Mr Barker added: “Some of our more dedicated members have already started their training. Others plan on winging it on the day… what can possibly go wrong?

“We have already had two fairly major bike-related incidents. One of our directors had a fall and broke his elbow, and we’ve lost another team member who needed a hip replacement. As you can imagine, the rest of us are dubious about getting on our bikes. I think we might have some achy bodies in the office the day after the ride.”
