Jones and Clark launch inaugural Health and Safety Pledge in April

7th April, Staffordshire - Jones and Clark, the leading industrial supplies provider, has launched Burton’s first ‘Safe, Healthy, Happy’ Workplace Pledge to coincide with World day for Health and Safety at work on the 28th April 2017.

The ‘Safe, Healthy, Happy’ Workplace Pledge is a celebration of how far businesses have come in health and safety practice and an opportunity to make a public commitment to maintaining safe and happy working environments. The Pledge begins on 28th April, but this is just the start of an ongoing network of businesses who are working together to enable the local area to be a beacon of good practice in the area of health, safety and wellbeing at work.

As a leading provider of industrial supplies and health and safety products, Jones and Clark have joined forces with Burton and District Chamber of Commerce to promote safe, healthy and happy workplaces. Monica Douglas-Clark, Creative Director of Jones and Clark and Chamber Council member says “We recognize that health and safety is now a part of working life for many companies. However, we often don’t think about how far we have come. It’s important to celebrate our commitment to safe working environments. When our workplaces are safe, businesses are more productive and employees tend to be healthy and happy.”

National statistics by RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013) state that we have made good progress on making our workplaces safer. Between 1974 and 2016, in the UK, fatal injuries to employees have fallen by 85% and reported non-fatal injuries have fallen by 77%. By joining the pledge, companies are stating that they are willing to celebrate the progress that has been made in health and safety practice and make an ongoing commitment to support Burton to be an ongoing champion of healthy, happy and safe workplaces.

Speaking about the pledge, Simon Douglas-Clark, Managing Director of Jones and Clark says: “We want to work in partnership with business owners, health and safety professionals and consultants who are passionate about the positive benefits of health and safety. Health and Safety is a fundamental part of any business and even more so within businesses that are dealing with tools, machinery and equipment. At Jones and Clark, we aim to provide our customers with a full turnkey service which means we don’t just source the best equipment for their needs, we go the extra mile and advise them on the precautions they need to take, the clothing they need to wear which we can also source for them.”

Nik Hardy, Managing Director of Hardy Signs Limited added “The practice of health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace has long been a bedrock policy for Hardy Signs. This initiative presents the opportunity to share our commitment and enable continuous improvement for ourselves and the wider business community”.

Chris Plant, Director of Burton and District Chamber of Commerce states “We hope that the Burton’s first ‘Safe, Healthy, Happy’ Workplace Pledge will encourage more businesses to maintain their health and safety commitments and celebrate the gains they’ve made. This will ultimately lead to better workplaces in the local area.”
