Mayor of Derby Joins Local Families for the Official Launch of Little Angels Day Nursery at Marble Hall

The Mayor of Derby, Councillor Linda Winter, joined local families for a ‘Fun Day’ to celebrate the official opening of the new Little Angels new day nursery at Marble Hall on Nightingale Road in Osmaston.

The Mayor performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new nursery, which is located within the Connect Derby managed workspace facility and caters for 16 two year-olds and 24 three and four year-olds.

Local families, neighbouring businesses and Connect Derby tenants were treated to a barbecue and refreshments, whilst the children enjoyed a bouncy castle, craft sessions, face painting and glitter tattoos, along with a special visit from the Easter Bunny and Paw Patrol character ‘Chase’. There was also a raffle, tombola and cake stall to raise funds for the nursery.

Guests were also able to take a tour of the new nursery, meet the management team and staff and register children for nursery places.

The Marble Hall site is the second Little Angels nursery in Derby. Manager Helen Turner and her team launched their first nursery at Osmaston Park Community Centre just over three years ago.

The nursery will complement the facilities at Marble Hall, which was launched last Spring and includes a vibrant business centre and Claude’s café, operated by YMCA Derbyshire.

Commenting on the launch of the nursery, The Mayor of Derby, Councillor Linda Winter, said:

“I’m very happy to have had the chance to look around the new Little Angels nursery.

“It is such a fabulous environment that all practitioners of early years’ education would like to have. The amazing staff and facilities here will support young children in their day-to-day learning, hitting milestones and generating independence – all while having fun doing so!”

Ann Bhatti, Connect Derby manager, said:

“The addition of a day nursery to the facilities available at Marble Hall is set to be a massive boost to tenants, local businesses and the local community. We look forward to welcoming lots of new faces to the building in the coming months.”

Natasha Meehan, manager of Little Angels’ new nursery at Marble Hall, said:

“There was so much interest in Little Angels’ original nursery at Osmaston Park Community Centre, that opening a new nursery in the area seemed to be the next step for us.

“As well as providing additional childcare services to families in the area, the new nursery has created seven new jobs for local people which is fantastic.

“We just want to highlight the fact that the Little Angels nursery at Osmaston Park Community Centre hasn’t relocated to Marble Hall – this is a separate, additional facility and we’re very much open for business!”

Helen Turner, owner and manager of Little Angels Day Nursery, added:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the Mayor of Derby and everyone who came along to our Fun Day and has given us their unwavering support over the past three years, which has made opening a second Little Angels nursery a reality.”

Marble Hall is part of Derby City Council's Connect Derby £30m portfolio of managed workspaces, which has created a strong market for mixed use and sector specific serviced offices across the city at its six other buildings – Friar Gate Studios, Sadler Bridge Studios, Riverside Chambers, Kings Chambers, Shot Tower and the iHub at Infinity Park.
