Soabar enters Konica Minolta partnership on back of £300,000 equipment investment

Leicester label printer Soabar has entered a business partnership with global print systems manufacturer Konica Minolta after becoming the first company in England – and only the second in the UK – to invest in its latest digital printing technology.

The firm has invested around £300,000 in a new Konica Minolta Bizhub C71cF digital press and associated finishing machinery and equipment to enable it to open a new digital department at its head office in Whetstone.

The investment means Soabar can now offer its customers a more convenient way of ordering and printing labels for our customers. It allows for shorter print runs of labels which can be printed directly from a PDF. This will help the firm to enhance productivity, improve efficiency, shorten order times and speed-up delivery.

On the back of the investment, Soabar has become a business partner of Konica Minolta, which will use the firm as a showcase for other businesses around the UK looking to invest in the press.

As part of the partnership, Soabar and Konica Minolta are hosting an open day, in Leicester, in conjunction with trade body the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) to give some of the UK’s leading label suppliers a demonstration of the press and share insights into the current future trends in the label market.

The event, which takes place on 27 April, will also include a supplier workshop and lunch at the Leicester Marriott Hotel.

Phil Achurch, Soabar’s managing director, said: “Purchasing our first digital press is a big and exciting step for us. It has enabled us to create a more efficient in-house printing process, which will translate to the improvement of the services we already offer to our customers.

“We are delighted to be working with Konica Minolta, an internationally-renowned company. Digital printing is part of the future of our business, so it’s important that we partner with the right organisations and the expertise, innovation and technology offer is second-to-none.”
