HORIBA MIRA and Főmterv zRt Awarded Hungarian Proving Ground Design Contract

HORIBA MIRA - a global-leader in advanced engineering, research and product testing - has been contracted in partnership with civil engineering firm Főmterv zRt to design a prestigious automotive proving ground in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary.

This proving ground will be the first of its type in Hungary with specific capabilities for the testing of Connected Autonomous Vehicles.

The new proving ground will boast extensive features dedicated to Connected Autonomous Vehicle technologies and the development of autonomous driving. HORIBA MIRA and Főmterv zRt bring over 100 years of combined engineering expertise to ensure this new proving ground will be state of the art.

This announcement demonstrates the Hungarian Government’s commitment to strengthening Hungary’s leading position in the automotive industry and the continued economic growth.

The new proving ground will support the automotive sector including OEMS, Tier 1 suppliers and infrastructure providers. It will be managed by Autóipari Próbapálya Zala Kft, a newly-established company brought in to manage the development and operations of the proving ground.

An official signing ceremony took place yesterday in Budapest between Declan Allen, HORIBA MIRA’s Chief Operating Officer, Tibor Keszthelyi, CEO at Főmterv zRt and Andras Hary, CEO at Autóipari Próbapálya Zala Kft. They were joined by Hungarian Minister of National Economy, Mihály Varga, and British Ambassador to Hungary, Iain Lindsay OBE.
