Developer looks to build on West Midlands success

A leading housing developer is relocating to new office facilities in the West Midlands as it seeks to expand its activities in the region.

Westleigh Partnerships, which builds affordable homes on behalf of housing associations and local councils, recently opened the 1,600 sq ft regional office at Birmingham Business Park.

The move from the firm’s previous office at Blythe Valley in Solihull to new larger premises is part of a drive to initiate more housing projects in the West Midlands. It follows a £21m investment in Westleigh from private equity firm Palatine last summer.

Westleigh first arrived in the West Midlands in 2014 and has delivered hundreds of affordable homes across Birmingham, the Black Country, Coventry and Warwickshire. It is now seeking to extend those operations to cover Worcestershire and Shropshire.

The new West Midlands headquarters, strategically located in the heart of the region with easy access to the M6 and M42, will house Westleigh staff in departments including land acquisition and planning.

Ian Jones, Managing Director at Westleigh, said: “Moving into these new premises on Birmingham Business Park will allow us to expand and improve the vital services that we offer.

“There is an urgent need for new affordable housing in the West Midlands and we are among the developers at the forefront of addressing that issue.

“The population of Birmingham alone is set to grow by 150,000 in the next 15 years[1] and with available land at a premium, we in the construction industry must find innovative solutions to provide the new homes these people will need.”

Westleigh Partnerships is part of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) Delivery Partner Panel in both the Midlands and Northern regions, working closely with housing associations to build affordable homes throughout the East and West Midlands, Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire. The HCA has recently awarded over £48m of public funding to Westleigh for use on affordable housing schemes in these regions over the next five years.
