Nottingham Coffee Business Steps Up Expansion Plan with Support from HSBC

Midlands-based specialist coffee roaster 200 Degrees is set for an extensive expansion of its coffee shops in collaboration with HSBC Business Banking.

The business, which currently has four coffee shops in Nottingham, Leeds and Birmingham, plans to open six new venues in 2017.

In addition to facilitating the opening of the Nottingham Station, Leeds and Birmingham shops in 2016, HSBC’s support will now enable 200 Degrees to expand to further cities around the UK and push on with plans for an online subscription service and a new range of cold brew coffee.

The fifth shop will be located at Market Street in Leicester and opens March 16th creating 15 full and part-time jobs.

As well as supplying fresh coffee beans from its roast house in Nottingham, and opening its own distinctive coffee shops, 200 Degrees also offers a complete coffee shop service and on-site barista training to its wholesale customers.

Rob Darby, Director at 200 Degrees, said: “Coffee shops are experiencing a renaissance at the moment, with a desire from both shoppers and professionals for high quality, fresh beverages and inspired menus. The financial support and mentoring from HSBC, coupled with our passion for roasting and sharing our love of coffee, is the perfect mix as we look to double the number of our coffee shops and add more barista schools with them.”

Paul Smith, Area Director for Business Banking at HSBC, said: “200 Degrees has an exciting future ahead, and we are delighted to welcome them to HSBC. They are the perfect example of the businesses we support: passionate about what they do and dedicated to taking their business one step further.”

Rob Darby and business partner Tom Vincent set up 200 Degrees, initially, as a coffee roasting business in 2012 with a wholesaling base in Meadow Lane, Nottingham. Their first coffee shop opened in 2014 in Nottingham.
