Housing Association Joins In Ambitious Bid to Make History during National Apprenticeship Week

Futures Housing Group is supporting an attempt to achieve a Guinness World Records title for the largest online careers advice seminar ever.

‘The Big Assembly’ will be streamed nationwide via live video at 8:45 on March 7 2017 and aims to achieve 5,000 log-ins from people that want to find out about apprenticeships.

It is part of National Apprenticeship Week, the annual awareness event that celebrates apprenticeships in the UK, which will run from 6 – 10 March.

Created by the East and West Midlands Apprenticeship Ambassador Network, Workpays and GetMyFirstJob, this ground-breaking event is sponsored by the National Apprenticeship Service and D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, Leicester and Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Employers involved include East Midlands Chamber, Boots, Toyota, Highways England, Nottingham City Homes, The BBC, Derry Building Services, Derby Homes, Busy Bees, Young Professionals, Nottingham City Homes, EMH Homes, Futures Housing Group and Nottingham City Council.

Uniper, one of Europe’s leading energy companies, has offered sponsorship and a selection of career based prizes for young people which will be awarded during the presentation, including shadowing a CEO, being involved in a Boots product launch and much more.

Since it was formed in 2007, Futures has employed a total of 35 apprentices and currently has 13 amongst its staff with 2 further vacancies under consideration.

A number of the group’s apprentices have taken part in a video, sharing experiences of their apprenticeships, set to be shown on the day.

Futures Housing Group Chief Executive, Lindsey Williams, said: “It’s fantastic to be involved in such an ambitious world record attempt, and to be in such good company during National Apprenticeship Week.

“Being our tenth anniversary, we’re reflecting on the highlights of our history and this is the perfect opportunity to recognise our proud record of, and passionate commitment towards, creating even more valuable apprenticeships and training opportunities.

“Apprenticeships are close to my heart. I started my career as a trainee and understand how important they are. I hope that we continue to help people get their first step on their own career ladder and start something special.”

Introduced by Robert Halfon, the Minister for Apprenticeships, and combining commissioned films by and with apprentices plus live Q&A from expert advisors, the webinar will be focused on career options including apprenticeships.
