Premier Nottingham Estate Agent to Host Charity Fundraiser

LEADING Nottingham based estate agent FHP Living will be hosting a charity fundraiser evening this month (9 Feb) in aid of the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre and the Tim Bacon Foundation.

FHP Living is organising the fundraiser at the newly opened Ego Restaurant at The Dorset Arms in Compton Acres – and hopes to raise thousands of pounds for the two charities.

FHP Living, which has offices in both Nottingham city centre and West Bridgford, is supporting the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, run by Nottingham Trent University, which aims to improve the diagnoses and management of cancer. The centre also has a focus on developing effective solutions to improve the survival rates and quality of life for cancer suffers.

David Hargreaves, director of FHP Living, said: “We are extremely proud to be hosting the charity fundraiser. Each year, FHP has a £15,000 charity budget and sponsors various fundraising events as a way of giving something back. This year we are supporting the John van Geest Cancer Research.

“It is incredibly inspiring to be involved with such wonderful organisations, not only with contributions but by raising awareness with our clients and customers to support in their own way.”

The Tim Bacon Foundation, which will receive half of the fundraising efforts from the charity event, was set up last year after co-founder and chairman of Living Ventures, Tim Bacon sadly passed away following a lengthy battle with cancer.

The restaurant tycoon was an influential leader in the hospitality and leisure industry, owning popular brands such as Gusto, Red Door and The Alchemist.

Steve Knott, alumni and community giving officer at Nottingham Trent University, said: “We are absolutely delighted that FHP Living has decided to adopt the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre to be their charity partner for 2017.

“Our scientists work closely with patient groups and leading clinicians at the local hospitals, in order to make a real difference to the one in two of us who are predicted to be diagnosed with cancer at some point during our lifetime. The support we receive from local businesses such as FHP is vital to our lifesaving research.”

The charity fundraiser will feature drinks and canapes provided by Ego, an extravagant auction and top raffle prizes. The Mediterranean bar and restaurant, located in the West Bridgford area, is the latest Ego to open after an extensive refurbishment took place at the end of last year.

James Horler, who is a founding patron of the Tim Bacon Foundation and CEO of Ego Restaurants, said: “Ego is delighted to be able to support this charity event. We are looking forward to welcoming colleagues and friends along on the evening to help us support these two incredible charities.

“This will be a social event and a chance to find out more about the work the charities do. We are delighted to be hosting the evening at Ego.”
