Why Start of 2017 Provides Window of Opportunity for First Time Buyers

The start of the year provides the perfect window of opportunity for people looking to buy their first home, say property experts at Cavendish Residential in Nottingham.

As a first time buyer, finding and being able to afford your first home can be a stressful process. With lots of competition, choices can be very limited.

Karan Kaur, Valuations and Marketing Manager at Cavendish Residential, based in the Lace Market, said: “Latest stats show that sales to buy-to-let investors are down by 13.25 per cent since December 2015, and as a result are easing the pressure for first-time buyers.

“A typical first-time buyer can afford to buy a two-bedroom home, so with a decline in these being purchased by investors this leaves a wider choice of property available to them.”

Karan suggests that this preferred target area has seen the biggest price rises both month-on-month (+2.6 per cent) and year-on-year (+6.4 per cent) of any sector. With less competition from other buyers, first time buyers have the chance to negotiate and get the upper hand.
