Futures to build 90 new homes as part of £26m investment

An East Midlands-based housing provider is to build 90 new homes after accessing funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Futures Housing Group, which manages over 9,100 properties in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Northampton, will receive a share of £26.6m as part of its investment in the Quantum consortium.

Led by emh group and also comprising Wellingborough Homes, the consortium will build around 900 new homes across the East Midlands over the next five years.

The funding comes from the HCA’s Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes programme. In addition to the 90 new properties to be delivered by Futures, emh group will build 670 homes and Wellingborough will contribute 100 properties.

Marcus Keys, Director of Business Growth & Transformation at Futures Housing Group, said: “I am really pleased that we’ve been able to access this funding through our partnership with emh group and Wellingborough Homes.

“It shows the importance of housing associations working closely together to gain the investment they need to provide much-needed new homes across the East Midlands.

“I look forward to seeing which areas will be transformed by this funding as Futures continues to grow its portfolio of properties across the region.”

This latest investment will help Futures to fulfil its ambitious commitment to build more than 1,000 new homes by 2020 as part of a £147m development programme.

Emh group chief executive, Chan Kataria, said: “I am pleased with the level of funding allocated which will have a huge impact on our building output, helping us to meet the local need for housing and stimulate economic growth.”
