Northampton Swimming Club’s Winter Festival Receives Sponsorship from Five Star Housebuilder

Northampton Swimming Club, home to 2016 Paralympian gold medallist Ellie Robinson, has received a sponsorship deal from five star housebuilder Barratt Homes for its Winter Festival this year.

The Northampton Swimming Club and Barratt Homes Winter Festival is one of three swimming competitions which Northampton Swimming Club hosts each year at the Corby International Pool.
With the backing of the local housebuilder Barratt Homes, the event was hosted from Friday 16th December to Sunday 18th December.
The competition, which saw individuals of all ages from 24 various clubs across the region compete, took place over five sessions, which commenced on the Friday.
Para-swimmer Ellie Robinson BBC Young Sports Personality of the year 2016, who won a gold medal in the women's S6 50m Butterfly event and a bronze medal in the women’s S6 100m Freestyle at the Rio Olympics earlier this year, also competed in the event.
Each swimmer who competed had to satisfy certain qualifying times. The swimmers were placed in heats based on their entry times and competed against each other to improve their own personal swimming times, achieve regional and national times or just to increase their competition experience.
Medals were awarded to the fastest three swimmers in the various age groups for each event. The events covered each of the different strokes freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke.
Northampton Swimming Club is not just for children but caters for swimmers of all ages.

“As a local housebuilder we feel it is extremely important to support the community in and around the area as well as providing quality homes.
“As this is a non-profit organisation, the coaches look for volunteers to help organise and officiate this event and are reliant on donations and sponsors to help with the costs of running such events.
“We were more than happy to do our bit and sponsor this event so we could help the club to continue to coach individuals who enjoy swimming.”
Jacquie Marshall, Director of Swimming at the club, said: “We would like to thank Barratt Homes for kindly sponsoring our Winter Festival event. Without the support of local businesses we would not be able to run such events which provide invaluable competition experience to those participating.
“This has proved to be a popular event for local children in the past and we are looking forward to seeing how the competitions turn out in 2017.”
